Lesson Three Notes

Rehearsal
We have used songs in the piece to be used as commentery on the peice so the audience can get a better picture and understanding of what is happening in front of them this is a Brechtian technique.

We have chosen to set it it in a supermarket becasue that is where the script says the piece is set plus it is a strange place to have it beacuse the peice is about buying babies this alienates the audience and reminds them that they are watching a theatre peice beacuse the setting and what the setting is being used for is so strange.

The songs in the peice help to create dramtic tension by showing an argument between two charachters in song. For example in "Bills , Bills , Bills" were the woman sings at the man about how money is tight and she wish that she had more. This also alienates the audience because singing at your partner in the middle of a supermarket about how tight money is , is something that many audience members will not be able to relate to.

When characthers exchanged apart of there costume to another actor playing there characther aswell ,this reminded the aduience that what they were watching wasnt real, this is a brecthian technique.
